Seven Falls
     Seven Falls is located in the southwest corner of Colorado Springs in South Cheyenne Canyon. You can enjoy the canyon and falls in the daytime, or during the summer you can visit at night when the falls are lit up with computerized lights. You can take an elevator a ways up the mountain to Eagle's Nest lookout for a better view of the waterfalls and canyon. At Seven Falls you can hike and enjoy the scenery, watch Native American Dancers, feed trout, get a snack at the snack bar, and visit the gift shop. The cost is $9.25 for adults during the day and $10.75 at night. Children's admission for kids 6-15 is $5.75 during the day and $6.75 at night. It is only open at night during the summer(and Friday and Saturday nights during May) and during the Christmas holiday season. Public restrooms are located in the lower parking lot and are the only restrooms in the canyon. Peak season summer hours are usually 8:30 a.m. - 10:30 p.m, with shorter hours after that. Cheyenne Mountain Zoo
     A Colorado Springs travel guide would not be complete without listing the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. It is home to over 170 different species and 800 animals. If you love giraffes, you will enjoy this zoo as it has the largest giraffe herd of any zoo. For $2.00 you can purchase a pack of 3 crackers made especially for giraffes and you or your children can hand feed the giraffes. Built on the lower side of Cheyenne Mountain, the zoo can be a difficult hike uphill so you might want to consider taking the tram which allows zoo visitors a way to get to exhibits without the uphill hike. It has 8 different stops and allows the users to get on and off at any stop. It is great for families with strollers as well as visitors would find the terrain more challenging. For $2.00 a person you can ride a carousel from the 1932 World's Fair. For $5.00 kids can ride a pony. Click here to find the hours the pony rides are available, as it varies by seasons and weather. Check the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo for a list of animals and exhibits. Admission for adults ages 12 - 64 is $17.25, seniors 65 and older are $15.25, children 3 -11 are $12.25 and kids 2 and under are free. You can also see the Will Rogers Shrine with the price of the zoo admission. It is a little over a mile up the road from the zoo. It is open from 9:00 a.m. - 4 p.m. in the summer and 9:00 a.m. - 3 p.m. in the winter, weather permitting. You can also take the Mountaineer Sky Ride from inside the zoo or you can catch just the ride outside of the zoo, if you do not plan to go to the zoo itself. This is a chairlift ride that takes you up to see great views of the Colorado Springs area. The ride costs $5.00 for adults, and $4.00 for kids ages 3 - 11. Weather permitting, summer hours are 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.(last ride is at 5:30 p.m.), with winter hours from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (last ride at 3:30 p.m.) weekends only. Sky Sox Baseball - Colorado Rockies AAA Minor League Team
    Enjoy an afternoon or evening at the ballpark if the Colorado Springs Sky Sox, the AAA affliate of Major League Baseball's Colorado Rockies, are in town. Come to the park and watch major league prospects take on other Pacific Coast League teams. Tickets for adults are $10.00 for upper reserved seats, and $13.00 for lower box seats. For children, seniors 60 and over, and the military, the prices are $8.00 for upper reserved seats, and $11.00 for lower box seats. Parking is usually $5.00. Or, if you're in town on a Tuesday when the Sky Sox are playing, you can get $2.00 tickets and $2.00 parking. Call 719.591.7699 for tickets. Bring sunscreen for a day game or a light jacket for an evening game. Fishing
     Although you have to buy a license to fish, Colorado residents can buy a license good to fish for a year in Colorado for $26.00 plus $10.00 for a habitat stamp for those 16 and older. Colorado residents 64 and older pay just $1.00 for a year plus $10.00 for a habitat stamp. Colorado residents can also get a single day license for $9.00 plus $10.00 for a habitat stamp. Out-of-state residents can get an annual license for $56.00 or a five day license for $21.00 or a one day license for $9.00 (there are no senior rates for non-residents) and add $10.00 to any of these for the habitat stamp. Kids 15 and under do not need a fishing license.
